First Aid Box / Rescue Information for MCHGA PILOTS
Pilots generally fly on 147.495 MHz simplex &
use the Mt. Tamalpais (East Pk) repeater 146.700(-) MHz (179.9Hz PL tone).
Coverage of the Mt. Tam. repeater is sometimes difficult on Stinson Beach. The
KB6LT San Bruno repeater has direct emergency patches but is difficult to reach.
Cell phones are generally best for reliability and simplicity but reception
in the landing zone can be sporadic.
The First Aid Box on private property at Eric's Mom's place has comprehensive medical and rescue equipment. Weegie McAdams, an ICU nurse put together a very complete medical supply. There is rescue equipment such as rope throwbags, cable cutters, hook knives, and sheath knives on floats. Be aware that trying to rescue an HG or PG pilot is extremely dangerous in the water; especially near the surf (approach from the side, must have strong swimming ability). First aid, CPR, and some lifeguard courses are beneficial but superficial.
