USHPA VIPs visit Bay Area
  USHPA President Lisa Tate and USHPA Executive Director Paul Montville will visit the SF Bay Area this month. They will present an overview of USHPA's strategic plan at the WOR meeting on Tuesday, May 20 and at the Sonoma Wings meeting on Thursday, May 22. This gives local pilots a valuable opportunity to present USHPA with your questions and feedback.
The windtalker is working, again!
  We have finally resolved our modem/communication problems, and the windtalker is back in operation. It employs the new ultra-sound anemometer, which was restored a few weeks ago. Thanks to Paris Williams for climbing the pole to replace the anemometer. Click here for pictures and story.

USHGA's "Vision"
  In 2005, Martin Beresford presented his work on USHGA's "Vision" committee. For those who missed it, his presentation is available online (requires MS PowerPoint).
FCC Warning!
  The FCC has warned hang gliding and paragliding pilots not to operate hand-held radio transceivers without a license. Failure to heed this warning could result in criminal penalties ranging from $7,500 to $10,000! For information about obtaining an Amateur Radio license, click here.
Site update:

  • Recent storms have removed most of the "seasonal sand" from our LZ. Currently, tides over 5 feet are likely to make the beach un-landable. Be aware that storms can increase the height of predicted tides.
  • Recent storms have also removed the Seadrift sign, again.
